چکیده

s Diffusion of water in thermally fractured granite was studied by using pulsed field gradient NMR (PFGNMR) and MRI methods. Two different approaches gave consistent results, indicating that these methods can be applied for materials of low porosity with fracture networks.

Radionuclide transport in fractured granite interface zones

In situ radionuclide migration experiments, followed by excavation and sample characterization, were conducted in a water-conducting shear zone at the Grimsel Test Site (GTS) in Switzerland to study migration paths of radionuclides in fractured granite. In this work, a micro-scale mapping technique was applied by interfacing laser ablation sampling with inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrome...

Xenon NMR measurements of permeability and tortuosity in reservoir rocks.

In this work we present measurements of permeability, effective porosity and tortuosity on a variety of rock samples using NMR/MRI of thermal and laser-polarized gas. Permeability and effective porosity are measured simultaneously using MRI to monitor the inflow of laser-polarized xenon into the rock core. Tortuosity is determined from measurements of the time-dependent diffusion coefficient us...

Pore diameter mapping using double pulsed-field gradient MRI and its validation using a novel glass capillary array phantom.

Double pulsed-field gradient (d-PFG) MRI can provide quantitative maps of microstructural quantities and features within porous media and tissues. We propose and describe a novel MRI phantom, consisting of wafers of highly ordered glass capillary arrays (GCA), and its use to validate and calibrate a d-PFG MRI method to measure and map the local pore diameter. Specifically, we employ d-PFG Spin-...

Self-diffusion of water and oil in peanuts investigated by PFG NMR.

Pulsed field gradient (PFG) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) has been used to study self-diffusion characteristics of water and oil in natural peanuts and in peanuts saturated with water. From the dependence on diffusion time of the echo decay due to diffusion, regions of completely restricted diffusion for the oil molecules were identified. The mean size and size distribution function of these...
